The Importance of Course Management
Should you hit driver off every tee?
Hey GolfHack Community!
Do you often find yourself hitting driver off just about every tee?
If so, this week is for you…
Course management is the secret sauce to shooting lower scores. It's not about avoiding mistakes, it's about playing smart and taking advantage of your strengths.
Hit it 300? Use your length to crush the ball on the long holes, but don't be afraid to lay up on shorter holes if there's trouble in the way.
Short game dialed? Attack the pins on the shorter holes, but be selective, and don't try to force shots that aren't there.
The key to good course management is to know your game and play to it.
Don't just hit the ball and hope for the best. Consider the wind, the terrain, and the hazards. Where do you want your ball to land? What's the best way to get it there?
By taking the time to think about your shots and make smart decisions, you can save yourself a lot of strokes and start shooting lower scores.
Course management is essential for shooting lower scores, making the game more enjoyable, and protecting the course.
By understanding the layout of the course, choosing the right clubs, and thinking two shots ahead, you can avoid costly mistakes and set yourself up for success on the green.
This will make the game more enjoyable for you and your fellow golfers, and it will also help to protect the course from unnecessary damage.
If you know that there's a water hazard in front of the green on a particular hole, you can choose a club that will leave you short of the hazard even if you don't hit your best shot. This will save you from having to drop a ball and take a penalty stroke.
If you're facing a long second shot, you can lay up in front of a hazard or other obstacle. This will give you a shorter approach shot and make it easier to make par or better.
If you're playing in windy conditions, you can choose clubs that will help you keep the ball in the fairway and avoid the rough.
No matter the number you're in the right place!
That is all for today…
We would greatly appreciate it if you would share our publication with your golf buddies and colleagues. By sharing our publication, you can help us reach more golfers to provide access to our content.
It’s a win-win: it helps us grow and helps them improve their game.
P.S. I'm starting to think that water hazards are in cahoots with the golf ball manufacturers. They're just trying to sell us more balls…
